  • Such Succulent Sake

15 minutes ago, I left the Japanese restaurant located just outside my apartment block. It is an upscale eatery with Japanese speaking service staff, catering to mainly my Japanese expat neighbours.

Today, because I felt so down, I ordered a bottle of sake to go along with the salmon sashimi, cold noodles and prawn tempura.

Today, because I felt so down, I drank all the sake and wasn’t interested in a bite of food. When I asked for the bill, the waitress looked at my untouched food and asked if anything was the matter.

I told her the sake was excellent.

Then, I popped into the liquor shop next door and bought a bottle of Bacardi, some soda water and a few lemons.

The theme of today’s morose mood is ” After 30, The Things You Love Fall Away”. I find that as I grow older, the things I love confuse me, and the things I no longer love are becoming a burden.

Some burdens are too heavy to bear alone.

A day after i turned 30, i was on a plane, uprooting my entire life to work in beijing.
Yes, it’s true that some of things i love has fallen away, but then again, there’s always new stuff that come in to replace them.
    Open your heart perhaps?

That was a exactly 11 months 7 days ago.
Sure, I no longer yearn for the things that I used to that i did back home such as a kopitiam kopi in the morning, but new things have come in, like er hot water bottles, to take its place.
And i think the difference between an adventure and a chore is simply the attitude. Maybe you might want to choose your own adventure?

I’m late, and I disagree. And I’d have eaten that food.

New things to love are coming to us everyday, old things start to get boring, they don’t fall away.
