Haagen Daz Adventures In Suzhou

You thought Singaporeans were consumers from hell? Let the women from China show you the how.
I brought a bunch of my female team members to a Haagen Daaz outlet in Suzhou to reward them for their hard work. In case you don’t know, Haagen Daaz is very very upmarket in China being extremely expensive after currency conversions. And women being women, simply love ice-cream.
So when the ice-cream arrived, it did not resemble the photos in the menu – a fact they complained about furiously to the manager who responded that there was nothing he could do. So they proceeded to moan, whine, make sarcastic remarks and bitch about the ice-cream in loud voices. Pretty soon, everybody in the store knew about their unhappiness.
The manager lost it and snapped. Then he proceeded to replace all of their ice-creams with new ones of their choice free of charge. That made my people very happy.
Of course, I was red-faced through the entire episode.
What I learned was that the China consumer is not afraid of complaining if they’re unsatisfied with your product.
