TNP: 30 Bloggers Joining SG Bloggers Assoc
Since the association got the official nod on 16 Jan, Ms Goh said it has received several enquiries from netizens interested in joining.
However, no new members have been admitted yet.
She said the organisation also plans to invite about 30 prominent bloggers to join as members, but declined to name them.
‘We hope to get bloggers from across a few categories, such as food, lifestyle, socio-political blogs, photography and so on.’
So instead of finding out from the official temporary Association of Blogger (Singapore) website/blog, the Singapore blogosphere finds out (again) from a dead-tree newspaper that 30 prominent bloggers are being recruited (list is super-duper secret though) to join the Association. (read it here as well)
Do they never evar evar update their damned website/blog?
Are there really 30 prominent bloggers in Singapore? A few hundred friends, acquaintances and bootlickers do not a popular blogger make. You need thousands of unique eyeballs, coming back day after day to even declare you’re being ‘read’. So what exactly entails being a prominent blogger? Your guess is as good as mine.
The author of the TNP article is Liew Hanqing (hanqing@sph.com.sg). A fact that he could not fit in to the article (due to timing) was on the day the article was published (31st Jan), 7 of the commitee members had already left due to various personal reasons.
But I also get the feel that the article was not thoroughly researched and that Liew Hanqing doesn’t really know the background of the situation and why a leader’s credibility & reputation are so important is garnering support from the blogosphere.
Let’s hope his next article is more balanced and closer to reality.
