  • An Alternative Way To Visit Johor Bahru From Singapore On A Shoe-String Budget That’s Really Convenient

    A lot of Singaporeans don’t cross the causeway to visit Johor Bahru despite it being only a 20 min journey away. This is a real shame, because the food, shopping and entertainment there is fantastic and most importantly cheaper than Singapore.

    What many people don’t know is that apart from driving into Singapore by car or bus, there is another option – by rail. Trains depart from Tanjong Pagar Train Station to Johor Bahru 5 times a day.

    Robo is a Malaysian blogger that regularly documents the good places to visit in Malaysia for food and play. His most recent post describes the newly re-opened Danga City Mall (previously known as Best World Mall).

    There is a train from Singapore, that stops directly outside this shopping mall!

    You can hop onto a train from Tanjong Pagar, and be in Johor Bahru directly outside Danga City Mall in 30 mins. And then after that, you can go home.

    From Danga Mall->Woodlands->Singapore (T. Pagar) (Fare : MYR3.00)
    ——-5.10am——->6.55am——->8.15am (Train no. 11)
    ——-8.50am——->9.15am——->10.10am (Train no. 15)
    ——-9.37am——->9.52am——->11.00am (Train no. 29)
    ——-2.19pm——->2.34pm——->4.11pm (Train no. 5)
    ——-8.08pm——->8.28pm——->9.35pm (Train no. 1)

    Hi there,

    This is interesting… An alternative into JB if Im nearer to city, when I feel like hitting into JB… :D

    But how much is the fare to Sg to Danga Mall?
    Have you try this alternative way of travelling by any chance?

    I wonder whats there in Danga Mall, as to comparing to Holiday Plaza and City Square and Tebrau City…

    Don’t bother to visit this place – yet. Netizens who been there are saying most of the shops are not opened yet.

    All they have for now is just tons of hairdressers.

    hi everyone,
    just went there last Friday, mall was quite deserted and empty. positive thing was that there were still people like us visiting it.

    Foodcourt only have a few stalls opened and the rest are empty and shows no sign of opening.

    They do have shops that sell apparel, beside the hairdressers.

    Main problem is that they do not have a money changer there in the mall itself. Friends have to borrow from me to pay first as they didn’t change any money before going over.

    Bowling alley looks spanking new, but there’s still lots of improvement to be made. Will advise to stick to city square for now.

    Yes Danga City Mall isn’t fully open yet. Many lots were left vacant.

    It isnt fully opened yet, but there are pirated DVD shops, video game shops, a Metro Jaya, supermarket and plenty of cheap women’s fashion shops.

    Oh and it’s also 10 mins away to the other shopping malls by cab btw.
