  • 2008 Review/2009 Resolutions

Here were my resolutions for 2008. Let’s review them. Those crossed out were successfully achieved.

    1. Pay attention to the details
Something I didn’t do in 2007 that resulted in quite a few challenging migraines arising. I have to stop this high-level hoighty-toighty manager bullshit and focus on the little stuff. The devil is quite literally in the details.
    2. Do some volunteer work
I swear I am going to start giving something back to society instead of just cold hard cash for donations. I will roll up my sleeves and read fairy tales to orphans or comfort the dying in a hospice. My spiritual side of life is suffering because I am slowly (but surely) selling out to Mammon Inc.
    3. Get another promotion and a bigger paycheck BUT be a good boss
Not only do I want my cake, I want to make sure everybody eats it with me – goal for 2008 is none of my staff to resign without having a much better offer elsewhere. I want to be able to have continuing relationship with everybody that has ever worked under me, even after they have left.
    4. Exercise and get into shape
Not to look good, but for the sake of my health and therefore my family’s future since I do bring back the bacon. I want to get back to 72kg weight and fit back into my 30 Levi’s again.
    5. Learn to drink better
I want to learn how to control my rage that bubbles up when I’m drunk.
    6. Learn another language
My (business) mandarin is now heaps better than most folk in Singapore/Malaysia. It’s time to pick up French or Hindi.
    7. Start an online business
Heh, I need some passive income

So it was a not so bad 4 out of 7 resolutions achieved. That’s like more than half of my goals successfully getting slotted so I’m quite glad.

    ———————————————————————————

Here are my resolutions for 2009.

    1. Be Selfish
The main reason why I am so unhappy is because I run around doing all kinds of things for other people, but wind up having no time for myself. In 2009, I am going to be selfish and spend a lot more time doing things that make me happy.
    2. Exercise and get into shape
Not to look good, but for the sake of my health and therefore my family’s future since I do bring back the bacon. I want to get back to 72kg weight and fit back into my 30 Levi’s again.

As you can see, I’m going for gold in 2009.

might your 1st resolution be more accurate to sound like:
I will only take responsibility for my own life, and not others…

your first resolution should be “Be contented”. Less compare, if you contented you will be more happy.

Cool sir… I like your list but one other resolution I would think is to find a more challenging and rewarding job!

“Life is too short to spend your precious time trying to convince a person who wants to live in gloom and doom otherwise. Give lifting that person your best shot, but don’t hang around long enough for his or her bad attitude to pull you down. Instead, surround yourself with optimistic people.” Zig Ziglar
