Ever wondered why mrbrown and cowboycaleb have more pageviews than you?
Quite a long time ago (probably last year), mrbrown and I had a discussion. I do not recall if that discussion was in person, via msn messenger or email due to the amazing changes of lifestyle that the Intarwebs has wrought us.
Our discussion was more of a bitching session. And what we were bitchin about was bloggers who only syndicate partial text feeds.
Don’t know what I’m talking about?
A partial feed looks like this:
So I’m so excited and then he says “You complete me” which makes me so hot so I begin peeling off my panties and use my fingers to clutch his big hard hot throbbin…. (click here to read more)
Frustrating isn’t it? We both decided that partial text feeds was such a hideous thing that we would only ever only ever only ever only ever only syndicate full text feeds for our blogs.
Fast forward to today – mrbrown has finally found confirmation that full text feeds do actually increase page views, and he emailed the link to me.
full text feeds actually does lead to more page views, though understanding why is a little more involved. Full text feeds makes the reading process much easier. It means it’s that much more likely that someone reads the full piece and actually understands what’s being said — which makes it much, much, much more likely that they’ll then forward it on to someone else, or blog about it themselves, or post it to Digg or Reddit or Slashdot or Fark or any other such thing — and that generates more traffic and interest and page views from new readers
So for those of you bloggers who are still syndicating partial feeds – please switch to full text feeds. (I’m giving you a dirty look, Nadnut).
It’s worked out for mrbrown so far, he’s by far our most popular blogger. So you can’t go wrong with that!
