Like Kicking A Bear In The Nuts, And Then Running Away

I may be in a lot of trouble.

My boss called from Singapore today for a much delayed ‘chat’ that I’ve been requesting since last week to discuss some issues. As usual, despite being presented with the facts, he somehow totally misses the point of it all and rejects the options I’ve presented to him.

So I’m seething inside with the injustice at being treated like I don’t know what I’m talking about when I’m juggling 3 different jobs that involve managing thousands of folk. At the expense of my family time because I’m in China. And at the expense of my health with all the alcohol and crapfood used as emotional bandaids.

Then I snapped. I say that I, and I alone have to bear the consequences of his decisions (or indecisions) that totally ignore my advice. And I have to live with it, every day, all alone in China.

Man, that felt good.

Scary, but good.

Hey do take care. I’ve had my share of lousy bosses who doesn’t listen to advice, and I haven’t formally entered the workforce yet. Still a student. Cheer up. Hope life improves.

“Don worry, your boss will love you more. Bosses like to listen to honest opinion and he can see all this when you snapped”

This is only if the boss is smart. Only a handful are like that. If the boss is not smart, he’ll take it personally and CC will likely get into hot soup depending on how (in)dispensible he is.

Well Cowboy, you know my advice… “take the high road” and stick to your values and what you know is “right”. I also know that when the timing is right, you can escalate to the right person who will listen to expose your boss for incompetence (which was only a matter of time in my opinion). AND… when you are ready and I know that time will come soon, get that resume polished up… you will be worth more in the job market than what you are being compensated today, you will find a more rewarding job and you will have more fun and quality family life… The timing will come soon Cowboy… and please, please, please look after yourself as there is only one of you (thank goodness!!!). Smile!

Word to the wise - just make sure everything is documented and on paper. That way you cover your ass. Buddhists say, when you get slapped, you can turn the other cheek to be slapped too out of compassion. But make sure you video everything so you can sue the bugger later. (And use the money for charity).

Chinese use to say….when the river water is milky and muddy, you can catch more fishes. But when the water is clear, it’s not easy to . Stay put CC.
