$89 Bucks Down The Drain

The Griffin iTrip I bought at the airport is a piece of crap.

For all the “One Touch Tuning” razzmatazz, I gave up trying to get decent quality sound from the iTrip streaming into my car stereo. I’ve heard better sounding crap, underwater.

Learn from my mistake, biatches.

I have a Griffin that works perfectly but you do need to manually set your frequency. For Singapore, I set it around 92.0 to 92.2 FM. There is a nice empty slot there.

It’s radio quality though but given that the car ain’t no Lexus, it’s good enough for me.

cowboy, i used podfreq when i was in singapore. doesn’t come cheap though - USD 99. But very strong signal nonetheless, and extremely good quality. Just as if the ipod was hooked up to the radio.

I’m using one of those device that plays mp3 from any thumbdrive and transmit to FM radio. The sound is OK. Can’t expect anything better than FM radio quality, since they are essentially a short range FM radio transmitter (around 20 meter range).

Unless the iTrip sounds worst than an FM radio station…

I bought this thing too and it SUCKED. The sound quality was so bad, barely audible. Teh cradle construction didn’t work at all for my car and gets i the way of the gear stick.
I exchanged it cause I thought it was broken but the next one was just as shitty. As you say, money down the drain.

get one with “PLL” in the spec sheet so the frequency doesn’t “drift”. there’re some 0.25-0.5mW ones on ebay that works great in house or in car. might need your own cigarette adapter, but the quality’s worth it.

FM Transmitters for iPods almost always are teh suck. Should consulted me first before buying. I have three of these things from different companies. They ALL suck.
