Cowboy Caleb Visits The Oracle Of Destiny

A huge career decision has been causing me a lot of frustration and indecisiveness over the past 2 weeks. I’ve been offered a position elsewhere but I’m torn between staying and leaving. Both companies have been increasing their offer and refusing to take no for an answer from me.

So last night, my wife went to the Temple of The Goddess Of Mercy and consulted an oracle on my behalf. Note: I am a Catholic (albeit a lousy part-time one) while my wife is a Taoist. The response from the oracle was in the form of a short story and spookily on target:

Once there was a soldier who fought and killed enemies for his king, but never received any recognition. Finally he grew bitter and refused to fight anymore. This came to the attention of the king, who then chose to reward him.

The intepretation of that story is that I can either choose to stay with my current company or leave for a new position elsewhere - it makes no difference because I will achieve the same level of success wherever I am.

Which doesn’t really help because I don’t know if I should go or stay.

Sigh!

When your present boss finds someone to replace you in future, do u think that he will boot u out?
If you move on to your new job, will you find the working condition better than the present one? Are you will to gamble? Money and working environment are equally important.
Believe in yourself. No god or deity can help you.
Best of luck.

my inference from the story is that you should go on strike so that your current company will give even bigger promotion/payrise heh

If the renumeration is the same for both ends, I say stay coz when you cross over, you start over as a new bird.

Old bird trumps new bird any time, any place.

Besides, if you stay and still not happy, you still have the option to leave. But if you leave and end up not happy, you got a Plan C?

For me lah…

When my staff came tendered, and i retained them eventually with $$$. The bad taste in the mouth lingered for a long time. And it was very hard for him to recover fully.

So my advise is to move on.

Additional money that come about from tug-of-war is bad money to have…

One more point, if your boss is one that rewards you only when he “have to”. Then you really should go…

Well, I have mixed feelings of course. I respect your decision, either way and I am sure the door to the new opportunity will always be open but I would watch what is happening to you where you are now and be sure to get out before it collapses around you. From personal experience, the change in career can be a significant benefit personally and professionally compared to the environment where you are now. Remember to always look out for #1 - YOU! Good luck sir and keep in touch. P.S. I will be in Singapore real soon - LOOK OUT WORLD!
