Of Chocolate Shooters And Aniseed-Based Spirits

Last night, I met up with my imaginary friend (now not so imaginary) Jaywalk. He lives in a neighbouring town called Chang An, and brought me over there for dinner. I must say, I need to move to Chang An because it’s definitely more happening over there. Anyway it’s always nice to meet up with folk from back home when you’re in China.
We had dinner at a joint called Gecko’s, which is owned by a Canadian dude named Robert. Awesome buffalo wings and other western dishes plus a myriad array of various beers and liquors - which is extremely rare in China.
After dinner, we had a few glasses of Sambuca, an aniseed-based drink. You hold your breath and swallow a mouthful because the liquor is pretty pungent. It tastes and smells like a million Hacks cough drops were smelted into liquid. Good shite!
Jaywalk also introduced me to yet another spectacular drink called a “Chocolate Cake Shooter”. It consists of Frangelico and vodka. You down it all in one shot, and then bite (not suck) a piece of sugar-coated lemon. The result is an incredible chocolate cake taste that explodes in your mouth and kicks you in the back of the head.
After dinner, we all went home without doing anything naughty.
