NYTimes Now Free, Straits Times Online Is Not

The New York Times will stop charging for access to parts of its Web site, effective at midnight tonight.

In addition to opening the entire site to all readers, The Times will also make available its archives from 1987 to the present without charg

The New York Times, arguable the best newspaper online or offline is now free for anybody to read online.

In stark comparison, Singapore’s Straits Times Online, still wants to you to pay to read their articles online.

If anybody from SPH is reading this, please forward this little piece of information to the powers-that-be and help them wake up realize the world is not an island.

aiyah, coz ST dun earn from their ads I suppose.

NYtimes get more from ads then subscription.. whereas ST might be the other way round.

What ST dun have is Feeds for their free content, which I find pretty strange.
