Product Review: Moleskine Notebooks

I’ve just purchased my first moleskine notebook, after having read so much about them.

It’s said that femes folk like Picasso, Matisse, Hemingway, Van Gogh and other creative types worked solely with moleskine notebooks. Most recently, one of my favourite writers Neil Gaiman also mentioned how much he loved his moleskine.

The GTD (Getting-things-done) crowd are also lovers of the moleskine. It seems that it facilitates productivity and efficiency.

Moleskines are not easy to find. They are available in Singapore but seem to always be hidden in some inconspicuous corner. Here is a list of places where you may be able to purchase one. You can also check out the official website.

The moleskine I purchased was a planner + notebook. At SGD30, it certainly did not come cheap. But then again, each moleskine is handmade and it’s evident from the quality of the materials, cutting and the oh so plush gorgeous feel of the paper inside it. There is also a black elastic band on the right, to hold the moleskine closed.

Clearly the moleskine I just purchased has already formed an emotional bond with me - which is exactly the reason why I got it. You see, I’ve been looking for something to rekindle the creative spark within me. And this moleskine may just be the thing to do it.

I hope your writing fades. Even though Moleskine is not supposed to fade inks. And what a perfect waste of money for planner workbooks. They are better off in an artist’s hand, sketching ideas… rather than plan some schedule.

notebooks dont inspire creativity. it’s like good looks and brains. either u have it,or u dont. buying a notebook, good quality like moleskin or otherwise, wont inspire shit inside an empty skull.

all i can say is “a fool and his money……”
