7-Zip Earns A Place On My Laptop It Sucks

7-Zip is an open-source file archiver. In English, that means that it’s a free alternative to Winzip.

Using the new f 7z format, it delivers compression results that are usually 30-50% better than standard ZIP. But it also does your standard ZIP files plus a whole range of other formats which WinZip doesn’t handle like RAR & TAR (which is the usual format that pron, movies and mp3s are made available).

It’s fast, nimble and opens almost any format on the intarwebs. I’ve replaced my Winzip with 7-zip.

Yes and it’s also unstable when you work with large documents (>10MB) with lots of embedded content inside. So I’ve uninstalled it and went back to good old Winzip.
