Thinking I would be stranded in Hong Kong and therefore would require a place to stay for the night, I plugged my wireless adaptor into my laptop and tried to find a wifi connection to access Wotif.com to book a hotel room (preferbly in the Tsim Sha Tsui or Kowloon area because there’s always lots of food and shopping).

After a quick scan, I determined that the only free wifi was from PCCW and connected to it. PCCW presented me with a login screen with payment options. I choose to pay by my credit card and submitted all my details.

And then the error above was presented to mine supplicant eyes.

Since I could not figure how to make my first and surname alphanumberic, I could not get wifi even though I was willing to part with my hard-earned money!

Hi Cowboy, I use FON network in Hong Kong. They have lots of access points that you can use though you have to pay to become a member. http://www.fon.com

You could have spelled your name in part leetspeak to make it alphanumeric. Like C4|el3.
