Thoughts Before Midnight

You know what pisses me off about my so called ‘career’?

The reason why I feel am so fucked up about work is because I am so insecure. This feeling of insecurity is now bred into the DNA of most major MNC’s. Everybody is constantly having to prove that their work somehow counts and that they play an important role in the company otherwise they’re redundant and have to go.

It doesn’t matter who you are or how high you are on the food chain. Nobody is safe.

So yes, my company probably needs more me more than I need them right now. But what about 3 years from now? Will I still be needed? What happens when my services are no longer required?

Please, no smart ass remarks about survival of the fittest and corporate realities. Loyalty is something some of us still take seriously, and it’s supposed to be a 2 way street.

As long as you believe something in your life is a disaster, it will unfold as a continuing disaster.

In a nutshell: Every “Disaster” in your life is not so much a disaster, as a situation waiting for you to change your mind about it.
You say: “3 years later I’ll be fired.”
You bet it does.

“The thing always happens that you believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen.” (Frank Lloyd Wright)

The only thing that rings true in the corporate world is : no one is indispensable. So stop trying to be that, and enlightenment will be yours.

HAH!

Who was it who wrote a Guide to Having a Modestly Successful Life?

4. If your boss doesn’t like you, resign.
5. Integrity is great. But money is even better.
8. If you have many enemies and are doing well, you’re probably on the right track.

You take loyalty seriously? You?

The feeling of insecurity bugs everyone in the corporate world. Especially when you are at the echeleons of Management. Nobody likes the feeling but you have to accept the fact that no one is indispensable and there is always someone better that you are. Just hope that you work for a corporation that values you and in turn you valuing it.

opped over from Imp’s. I had a long discussion w my boss on this - that employer’s are becoming more demanding, very American (no offense meant to some more philantropic, family-valuing American companies), squeezing blood out of stone? Not knocking the loyalty, but tis wiser to know who deserves the loyalty before pledging it.
