Listen to this okay.. NS doesnt make you more mature. The Truth is that it stunts your mental growth. Trust me, women your age will find you childish, at least 2 yrs behind, maybe more. Trust me, for the next 5 years at least, you will keep talking about army life at every opportunity in every gathering, because it is all you know.

And if there is no NS, we would bitch about work / school life at gathering anyway.
Looking back, staying away (for 5.5days per week) from home and sharing a life with others (who begin as strangers) for 2.5 years definitely have made me a more mature (and hopefully better) person. But maybe I was one of the more fortunate ones (having been allocated to a rifle company rather than a HQ).

We do start off later in our work life. But 5 years later, people wouldn’t notice the difference (I have been out for eight), just as nobody as you for your transcript no more. And if you are still behind, it doesn’t really makes a different even if you do have a head start.

Having said that, going back to ICT still sucks, but what is a better alternative?
You really think our brothers on the other side of the causeway better off than us?

Working life actually makes you more mature or old or dying young whichever way you see it. Unless you work in a school with kids no larger age gap than 15 years.
