Review: Lady In The Water

I almost didn’t watch this movie. Firstly the reviews were dismal. Secondly my wife thought it was a horror movies and she didn’t want to watch it. But then my mom said there was no way in hell she was going to watch Pirates of the Carribean. And I recalled that I did enjoy ‘The Village’ which was the director M. Night Shyamalan’s previous outing that got terrible reviews as well.

The entire movie is one big fairy tale come to life. A sea-nymph is somehow living in the swimming pool. The people in the apartment building are all somehow linked to her and have special powers to fulfil their purpose. I loved it. This is great story-tellling. This is the kind of movie I want to watch, but can’t because they just don’t make movies like this anymore. I felt like I was watching one of those 50’s Disney movies where nobody ever gets killed, has sex or get a grisly ending.

Verdict: 5 out of 5 stars.

shamalarn is too predictable in the sense that he is going to put sthg at the end of the movie. he thinks he can pull this off, but after “invicible”, mostly crap until “the village”.

he is over-rated and need to get a new direction in film-making.

i dont like shamalarn’s movies much.

after “invicible” he is juz so damn predictable. but “the village” is pretty good.

i rather think he shld get a new direction in life to alter his “signature style” which is quite, for the lack of a better word, lame.

Maybe I should try to catch it.

Unbreakable I had to watch at least 2 or 3 times before I appreciated it. It was difficult at first.

Personally i like Shyamalan’s previous movies, “Unbreakable” and “The Village”. Shyamalan has managed to garner quite a following in the US , I like his story telling. Refreshing and full of anticipation.
