The Things We Never Said

Sometimes you have so much to say, and the need to get it off your chest becomes unbearable like a huge leaden weight that presses against you causing a shortness of breath until the air tastes like iron and rust but then you remember that sometimes the questions are more important then the answers so you shut your mouth and stare at your shoelaces instead; which have come undone.
Why you do the things you do, and why people do the things they don’t mean to do, inevitably causes you to stop and pause. Somebody once told you to flee in the face of the enemy and you promised that you would but only you didn’t and now it’s really more then you can bear to live with but you want it again and again and again.
