On The Brink Of Forevar

It is now 9pm on the final day of the project. Tonight will be the night that we know if our hard work over the last month will finally pay off. Grueling 14 hour shifts, 7 days a week with no public holidays or breaks and careful planning have ensured that we crashed a project that was 3 months behind schedule to the point where we finally caught up and are now ready to go-live.
For the entire month, I have micro-managed the activites to the point of daily schedule reviews, discarded items not essential into the trashcan and cajoled/pleaded/threatened people to co-operate.
It is said that the three key items required for any project are time, resources and quality. I sure as hell needed time, so I pumped in massive expenditure of resources and cut back on quality, so that we could purchase the lost time we had to make up for.
My people are worn out. Some of them have been living out of hotels and in their cubicles. Their eyes betray a look of weariness that mask their desire to bring about the endgame. All of us want our efforts to culminate in success. Most of them have discovered more about themselves then they ever knew in tapping reservoirs of hidden strength to achieve tasks previously thought impossible.
I tell them - how we began the race doesnt matter; and while we were running - nobody wanted to know if our lungs were bursting and screaming for air. The conclusion, the finishing and the climax of the race is where we’re headed for and everybody is watching us. We play to win.
Wish us luck.
1 country down, 18 more to go.
