Shopping At Chinatown With Roxanne

Roxanne has lots of lovely photos of Chinatown.

This is a lovely year for the Chinese New Year. I’ve always associated the CNY with hot sticky humid weather. My mind envisions years of sweating it out in my finest threads while holding my hands out for red packets. This year, it’s cloudy and cool due to the rainy weather. Awesome.

I’m not really excited about CNY. Why should I be? Coming from a roman catholic family, Xmas was the biggest event of the year. How on earth could the God of Fortune trump Santa Claus? Also, everybody is required to wear red of the first day of the CNY, and red is such a gay colour. Always was, always will be.

For those of you hoping to receive red packets for me this year, sorry tough luck - I’ll only be giving them out next year. First year of marriage no need to give, ok?

oh no. don’t speak too soon. it rarely rains during cny, and the sun might just come out full force during cny.

i thought first year also don’t have to give, but think it’s safer to prepare. children and some adults don’t take too well to that reasoning.

They say if it rains on during the tan yuan festival, it will shine on CNY… that remains to be seen. :D

Thanks for the link. :) I’ve got new pics up again. ;p
