A Gonzo Journal: The Best Of 2005

In 2005, my blog served 2.2 million unique pageviews (5.2 million hits) to 540,000 unique visitors for a total of 54.25GB of bandwidth consumed. This represents a 1155% jump in traffic compared to the 2004.

Wow! That’s a lot of pages. That’s a lot of bandwidth. Luckily every single image is hosted on flickr or I would have a massive bandwidth bill.

I would like to thank all readers of My Gonzo Journal, for your support. Why you folk keep reading my crap, I will never understand. But I will try to keep producing more rubbish next year so please keep coming back.

2005 was a very good year for bloggers in Singapore. The media lauded and crucified us at the same time. We broke new ground. We had a bloggers convention. Everybody has a blog. People who don’t will soon start one. Blogging is not a trend, it’s a way of life. Blogging is here to stay, and it’s only going to keep getting better.

Remember, don’t start a blog because you want to be famous. Blog, because you have no mouth but must scream.

I installed a popularity plugin early on in 2005. It’s the reason why a popularity value appears after each post I publish. The plugin has been tracking my posts all throughout the year and now I am able to present to you for the first time evar, a comprehensive list of posts that were instrumental in polluting, corrupting and entertaining the blogizens of Singapore in 2005. Enjoy!
