Hi. I’m sorry I haven’t been updating regularly. The preparations for the wedding have been taking up most of my time. That and attending Xmas parties + drinks and the dreaded shopping. I spent every other lunch and dinner hour trying to find gifts (all 20 of them). It really wasn’t easy because my family ranges from age 2 to 57 years old. I even resorted to shopping at Mustafa’s with LMD at 1am in the morning.
Xmas this year was an excellent affair. The entire Xmas eve was spent shopping with the wife and sister-in-law at Orchard road. After that we rushed home for a family Xmas eve dinner and subsuquently off to church for midnight mass. At midnight we staggered to the car, exhausted and discovered to our horror that we couldn’t get the doors open. 10 minutes later, we realized that it wasn’t our car.
On Xmas morning, the kids opened their gifts and decided that they would fight each other for the most precious giant inflatable giant hammer. Then it was off to the club for a Xmas brunch followed by a gift exchange at my cousin’s place. During the gift exchange, my mom got the bingo set. My dad promptly sprang into action and started selling bingo cards for 2 bucks a pop and the entire family began gambling with glee.
My brother was really disappointed though. He wanted an iPod nano, but I couldn’t afford it this year so I got him a slightly cheaper iRiver mp3 player instead. Disaster struck when the iRiver didnt work - the battery wouldn’t charge. He was really disappointed. I think I kinda ruined Xmas for him this year…
This year, I didn’t get my wife a gift and she didn’t get me anything either. With the upcoming wedding, cash is tight and we don’t really see the need to splurge on gifts - so everybody got slightly cheaper presents compared with last year’s Xmas.
But that’s what Xmas is all about right? We give gifts to our loved ones and do not expect anything in return.
