Does That Mean More Comic Books Mommy?

I used to recall that circa 1999 - the National Library’s default max loan limit on books was 8. And then it got dropped to 4. Well, my favourite librarian has just informed us that it has been doubled back to 8. And if you’re a premium member (I am one) then you can now borrow 16 items!!!

Just think of it!!! You can now borrow like mondo lotta books, dvd’s and magazine. But best of all, you can leave the library with a bagful of comics. Woo-hoo!!!

Frankly, though I think this is a fantastic move, I do think that it benefits kids more. Parents will now be able to borrow more books for their kids without having to use their own accounts in addition to their kids’ accounts.

Two thumbs up for the National Library, which seems to be implementing policies with the public in mind. I see my tax dollars are being well-spent.

To ningx: To join as a premium member, just register at the library or self-help kiosk (where available). It costs only $21 for 12months subscription (easily recovered when you borrow the DVDs etc). See the Library Guide for details.

Hey Caleb, you are right, the loan quota was 8 some years back. I can’t remember the exact rationale but I think it was ensure that library materials circulate faster (i.e. greater availability for other readers). This current promotion runs for a limited period only and is to coincide with NLB’s 10th anniversary this year. It’s way to reward readers for their support.
