Movie Reviews: Cinderella Man

It was a tough choice – “Land Of The Dead’, “Creep” or “Cinderella Man”. The guys in the group voted for “Land Of The Dead” (It’s got billions of zombies!) but we got outvoted by our girlfriends who though “Cinderella Man” was some fantasy movie about a man who transforms at midnight into something else. Ha-ha.
“Cinderella Man” is a boxing movie that transcends into an epic about a James Braddock who struggles to be a good father, husband and most of all a bad-ass boxer who came back from the brink of diasaster after having injured his hand and falling from grace to becoming the World Heavyweight Champion despite being too friggin old hence the nick “Cinderella Man”
Russel Crowe proves to us that he is the best actor of his generation, by putting on a phenomenal performance. His potrayal of James Braddock is heartbreaking and inspiring. How does a guy who is seen as a loving father and husband in one scene transform into a brutal punching machine the next?
My gf who hates violent movies, and thinks boxing should be banned sat glued to her seat throughout the movie. The fight scenes are not just boxing matches – they are battles of love that James Braddock fights, so he can give his family a better life.
4 out of 5 Stars
