All Tomorrow’s Charities
Selected charity will get adopted by Tomorrow for 3 months. They will be placed prominently on Tomorrow with a paypal donation button. All money raised via Tomorrow will be given to the adopted charity.
Tomorrow.sg needs your help to locate a suitable charity to donate moolah to. With so many charities out there, they need suggestions as to which organizations are truly needy and are striving to make the world a better place. There are some rules of course (insert NKF joke here), but please go and suggest a charity you know of.
Personally, I think this is a great campaign. It takes so little to give back to society and with the intarweb linking all of us, it is now easier then EVAR to help the less fortunate.
Let me share with you the worst thing I have ever done in my life, that still haunts me to this very day.
I was 16 years old and went on a school trip to a home for abandoned kids. Most of the kids there were mentally retarded or deformed. The smell was bad and the kids were really pitiful. The home lacked funds because it was totally funded by donations and ran by an Indian man who decided that he wanted to make a difference. One of the kids was not mentally retarded. She was partially blind and had to sit in a wheelchair all day long because her legs were all wrong.
I spoke to her.She was the same age as me and her parents had abandoned her here because she was a burden. She hated it because she wanted to go to school to learn to read and write plus she was lonely as hell. The other kids frightened her and she was living in hell.
I promised to visit her every other weekend and she was so happy that she cried.
But I never went back. Evar. Because I hated the place. Because I was a coward. Because I was a kid and had more interesting things to do. Because I was a liar.
I always wondered what happened to her. I still remember what she looks like. I still remember the smell. So everytime somebody asks me for a donation that goes to some charity that looks after kids like her, I give as much as I can.
Because I can’t turn back the clock, but I can make amends for what I’ve done.
