Sunday’s With Cowboy Senior
My dad is kinda depressed from stress at work. I know exactly how he feels. So on a hot Sunday afternoon, whilst my mom was at the hair stylist, I brought him shopping because he happened to mention that he needed a new pair of jeans. My dad is a lot like me in many ways. It doesn’t take much to make him happy. Jeans, Deep Purple, fishing and shopping at the supermarket are the kind of things that kinda enhance the quality of his life tremendously.
So off we went to try on jeans. Did you know that Lee’s jeans have an even better cut then Levi’s but cost half the price? No shite. So El Cheapo’s dad is also an El Cheapo and he chose a Lee’s instead because it wasn’t only just cheaper - it came with a free Levi’s T-shirt. I didn’t want to comment on the irony of his choice because it was less harmful to my financial health.
On the way out, we spotted a little old lady sitting on the side of the pavement clutching her head. Partly because she reminded us of my late grandmother, we asked her if she was ok and if she needed a lift back home. However, the little old lady (who must have been young when dinosaurs roamed the earth) declined our help.
My mom still wasn’t ready yet, so we went down the street and found a little shop that served tea and Turkish waterpipe (sisha). So we ordered some drinks and started puffing away at the sisha. Pretty soon, the father and son team had filled the shop with a haze of coffee-flavoured smoke - much to the chagrin of the other customers.
I hope that cheered my dad up.
