We Want To Get More Lost

My housemate and I are feeling pretty shitty right now. We finished watching the last remaining episodes of Lost (season 1) at 3am last night after a saga of DIY home cinema, peanutbutter & jelly sandwiches and Sri Lankan tea. For the past week, our heroin has been Lost. Our cells crave and ache for it. We have been having uneasy dreams about John Locke, jungles and Sun’s hourglass figure.

It had been our ritual to sms each other on the way home each night. Whomever was at home was to begin the ritual of booting up the laptop and warming up the projector so that we could start our Lost fix as soon as possible. There’s just something so compelling about a show that revolves around a bunch of messed up misfits marooned on an island with strange secrets and monsters.

So last night was the last episode and we’re terribly disappointed because there was no conclusion. The frigging first season ends in a cliffhanger. What the heow? This is just bad film-making at its worst.

How can we possibly not watch season 2 now?

I tide over by watching the best ongoing sci-fi series, Battlestar Galactica. Trust me, you love lost, try getting “lost” in space.

Or maybe have a change of taste and/or pace and try something like… Gilmore Girls?

After watching the last episode, I did 3 things.
1. Lancerlady and I looked at each other with the ’simi-sai-show-is-this’ look.
2. Searched the net. Hoping for Season 2 ’shareware’.
3. Curse and swear becos cannot find any.

The good news is that the creators and writers of the show have promised that season 2 will deliver answers at a much quicker rate than season 1. For example, they say that we’ll definitely find out what’s inside that hatch (what’s REALLY inside, not just the stupid ladder) by the end of episode 1 of season 2. So there’s hope! And you only have to wait a few more weeks to get more of a fix…

In the meantime, if you’re looking for quality TV to watch, I can recommend Veronica Mars and House, neither of which are currently showing in Singapore, I think. But hey, if you’ve finished the entire season of Lost, I’m guessing that won’t be an obstacle for you.

House is a medical drama, but it’s very different from shows like ER. The main character is a grouchy, cynical genius of a doctor, who loves medicine, but hates having to deal with patients. Dialogue is beautifully written, characters are engaging, and it’s really, really funny. It also stars Hugh Laurie, who you may know if you’re a fan of British sitcoms.

Veronica Mars is possibly the best tv show I’ve ever watched. Ever. For a full review, see here.

Veronica Mars will almost certainly get Joan of Arcadia’s vaunted timeslot of 5PM Sundays soon, if at all. Unfortunately for us.
