Carine graduated in 2004 with a dual degree in political science and fine art. She will be here drawing political cartoons and writing columns until she has to go get a real job. She still watches children’s cartoons; has an inexplicable admiration for the kea, which is a singularly diabolical species of carnivorous parrot from New Zeland; and she can weld.
I’m not too sure what they mean by the last bit about “she can weld”. Seems like a pretty abrupt way to end an introduction. But Carine Lai wields a mean brush and draws pretty funny cartoons about life in Hong Kong, which is published in an online blogzine called Civic Express. For that she earns my respect.
