Hey Wrong Audience, Dude

I snapped this photo this morning on my way out. The entire mrt train is covered with a Nissan March advertisement. This got me thinking. Most people take the train because they can’t afford a car. And even if they could afford a car, why would they get the most expensive small vehicle? The Nissan March is grossly overpriced. And they are trying to flog it to people who have to rely on public transportation?

Anybody got any ideas what the ad-man had in mind?

darren > stupid adman. When I got 60k, I buy a vios instead of a underpowered tiny little march.

ningx > might as well advertise wine at the local kopitiam.

hiyah… it’s because maybe some guy’s honda jazz is at servicing and he got no money to rent a unicorn so must take MeRT. Either that or advertising has too much money. Or it could be aimed at late adopters. Or maybe it’s to create market presence. Or maybe everyone’s just crazy… who knows…

How about the parts (like on the North and East sides) where the train runs parallel to major roads carrying loads of car traffic commuting to and from work?

Ya, it’s for the lucky draw… But dont know where… Think need to put it since the Nissan is sponsoring the draw too (every week got some cash prizes, i think)

that’s probably it. they’re targetting the commuters to be their market. because, some commuters actually have the money hidden somewhere.

i think they are aiming for the crowd who are thinking about an upgrade.

the nissan march is an affordable entry level car, so why not?

it wouldn’t make sense if the advertisment is for a SLK

This really shows you are still not a true blue singaporean yet caleb.

In Singapore, owning a car is so damn expensive, even if people can afford the car, they would actually take the MRT to get to work, so save 300bucks a mth on parking/ERP and a few hundred mores on petrol. Despite not being able to optimising the car usage, owning a car is like a luxury so everyone wana have one even if you cant use it daily.

nissan march is the grand prize for a year-long lucky draw, which is open to all ez-link card users. They didn’t do the ad for nothing

But I thought the draw was already done and over with earlier this month?? The Winning card number has already been drawn and can be found near the gantries at all MRT stations.

But seriously, everyone rushed past the gates, else kena poked by the aunties and uncles - where got time to flip the card and see the 20 digit long number behind.
