How Lightsabers Work

Who ya callin Baldy?!

Chances are that you have seen a lightsaber at one time or another, whether on the evening news or down at the local cantina. Therefore you know that a lightsaber is an amazing and versatile device that is able to cut through nearly anything in a matter of milliseconds.

This wonderful article teaches you all about the amazing device called ‘a lightsaber’. Maybe you can even learn to build one of your own and use it for everyday real-life applications like peeling apples and defending yourself from assailants.

I read somewhere that it is impossible to build a lightsaber in real life. But you could build a plasma sword. Although you’ll have to carry a power source, which isn’t that small.

i READ SOMEWHERE THAT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO BUILD A LIGHTSABER, BUT YOU COULD BUILD A LASERSABER.THE ONLY PROBLEMS ARE THAT THE POWER SOURCE WOULDN’T BE SMALL ,AND ,IF SAY,
THE LASER WAS REFLECTING IN A SILVERWARE ITEM OR SOMETHING LIKE IT THE REFLECTION WOULD ALSO BE A LASER AND COULD BURN THINGS.

Two years ago I belonged to a science club along with my buddies. Long story short the guy that tought the club had a light saber that used plasma. he said it took about a year to make and he bought all of the components at a Radio Shack type place for about $75. it used an electro magnet to hold in the plasma a certain distance. by weakening the magnetic field, he could make longer. and by strenghtening it would become longer. He said it was very dangerous to try and make one, Because a disruptance in the magnetic field would essentially make an explosion of plasma.

Now there wouldn’t happen to be any way for you (Sirius) to find out exactly how he made that plasmsa/light saber, would there? I’d chance the explosion to be able to make something that amazing.

How on earth could some random guy who was in charge of a science club just make a plasma saber? If it was real, wouldn’t it be common knowledge by now? Did you actually see it?

Sorry for the hostility, but could you somehow tell me the procedure for that nifty little trinket? 75 bucks is not such a bad price for death and destruction…

By attaching a magnetic field to control the rate or plasma expansion seems far fetched. how would he distinguish between, lets say, horizonal or vertical expansion? I call shnanigans.

I am totally needing to know how you did this or he did this, everything. Either though you seem to be full of shit, kinda.
