Nevertheless, I do not believe the real issue being about racism. It’s about hating Singapore government scholars.

There’s an ugly side of human nature that wants to believe that the “cream of the crop”, our government scholars, are really a bunch of undeserving little turds squandering public money. This belief can arise for any number of reasons: percieved discrimination between the “haves” and the “have-nots”, stereotyping your average all A’s, 3.8 GPA student etc. We want to see these guys taken down a notch.

There is good news though. Guess what Cheng Zan? You’ve now got a chance that no other scholar has - a chance to show us what you’re made of. Show us you deserve to be the leader PSC makes you out to be. This is a test you can’t study for, but you’ve been preparing for this all your life.

hey.. ya lor… if cz is not a PSC scholar.. then there won’t be so much hype on his racism blog post le…

totally agree wif sky_boi, for in the end, he was a bigger target that your average blogger. imagine an influential blogger like yourself (cowboy) or mr.miyagi or mr.brown were the ones who came up with his post. t’would be an uproar too. the “average joe” (like myself) would be but a gnat buzzing the giant ;p

personally, im more alarmed at the underlying situation of it all, when a blogger’s personal statements in his own corner-domain is left bare to be judged by public opinion? of coz responsibility to social/moral norms should and must be adhered to. then should we all censor our own thoughts and feelings? IMHO.

Anthony - true that. as would i ;p

but the irony being, we bloggers (dare i claim association to that? :p) understand the “idealogy of blogging” (or i’d like to think so) - but say the average reader who doesn’t give two-hoots about blogging might think differently and mayhaps perverse said thoughts and content to their own contention? im not saying “them or us”, but in the end, a snitch/whistlebower is either oblivious to it all or just out for blood. IMHO

but of coz im grasping at intangible straws here lah hahaha

in the end, we are entitled to our own opinions, but if it doesn’t agree with yours? i personally am appalled by racism, but perhaps for me i dun give two-hoots about cz’s entry - becoz that’s just his thots and not mine. and if he ever becomes an asshat-in-charge? then woe betide us. but can we ever be in his life enuff to ensure said thing to ever happen? mayhaps with this episode in his life he would. and this is a good thing. :)
