  • And The Kimchi Will Set You Free

We (mrbrown, miyagi and I) went for dinner at Han Ka Ram tonight. With a bottle of Korean spirits, we had a jolly good time digging into the food with our teensy metal chopsticks.

Shortly before dinner, Miyagi inflicted severe trauma on me by introducing me to a gay shop called New Urban Male. The shirts were gay, the pants were gay, the colours were totally gay and the male patrons were giving each other backrubs. Well actually the stuff sold there looked really stylish and comfortable. I’m probably going to get a pair of Havaianas next week on Miyagi’s recommendation.

After dinner we adjourned to Spinellis (and later left for Cali Fitness’s Coffee Club Xpress when Spinellis kicked us out) for coffee to discuss the state of the local blogosphere, pop economics, curing cancer and lesbians. Actually I was just looking at the cute chicks going by as usual. Miyagi has a different version of what happened. And mrbrown has yet another version.

Who’s game for a local blogger convention?

I love the food at Han Ka Ram! And I especially love the really cute chopsticks, though it’s terrible for me to eat with them; I’m not very good with normal chopsticks already.

And I’m all up for a blogger convention! Count me in! Errrr… I mean… can I go?

Agggghhhh! I told myself I would never pay any attention to anything Korean related once I left the godforsaken place. Now, I catch myself singing along to some K-pop hip hop tune I hear in a bookstore here and catch myself remembering the video to the song fondly and now your entry about eating in a Korean restaurant has caused me to comment.

Anyways, what did you have to eat (besides kimchi) and how do you like soju?

All I have to say is this : Han Ka Ram sure sounds like “Hum Kah Chan”, which is like the most vicious Cantonese curse you can ever use on someone.

Save that for the next grumpy, cucumber-up-the-ass HK taxi-driver you meet.
