You Can Have My iPod When You Pry It From My Cold Dead Fingers

It’s been about a fortnight since I got my iPod. Seems like it’s become an indispensible part of my life now. Things have gotten so out of hand that I cannot imagine living without it now. I mean I actually go out shopping for CD’s just so that I can rip them into MP3’s to stuff them into my iPod. And don’t let me get started about my begging friends for a loan of their CD collection. In my possession currently are 5 cd’s nicked off MrMiyagi’s car.

And then I like to surf for iPod related stuff, which I bookmark for later abuse at an alarming rate. I’ve also developed this little unstoppable technique for rating songs. Basically when I dislike a song, I give it a rating of one star. Later I delete all one-star songs permenantly. I’ve settled down into this daily routine, which goes a little something like this.

  1. Get home from work, plug iPod into computer to resync and recharge
  2. Visit mp3 blogs, and download new shite. There is a huge variety of stuff to download each night.
Rip any new CD’s to MP3’s
  3. Go to bed
  4. Wake up, check if all Mp3’s have been downloaded
  5. Resynch new mp3s to iPod
  6. Commute to my office. Listen to new tunes, which appear on a smart playlist called New Shite and displays only songs I have recently added in chronological order.
  7. While listening, I read an ebook on my iPod as well.
  8. Reach office, plug iPod into officer speakers. Blast music all day long.
  9. Go home. Start beginning of this list again.

Did I also mention that the cool white iPod earphones go really well with my work clothes? I must be like a sex god with them hanging off my ears. Vestal virgins swoon at my arrival.

Anyway I’m looking to purchase new headphones or in-ear buds. I hear only good things about the Grado SR60. Anybody got a recommendation?

well, the Grados are really really good, if you’re willing to part with the $, it’s about $120.

else, the SHURE earphones or Apple’s own in-ear earphones work fine.

Sony MDR-EX71SL White.

Good sound, since they’re in-ear buds, making them semi noise-cancelling as well.

Most places retail it for S$80, but you can get it for $66 at the Sony V8 shop in Sim Lim Square.

My white Apple earphone is still in the package. I was using a Sony Black Ex-71 till I switched to a Shure E2C. Once you put them on, you won’t want to put the Sony back again. Its just so so much diff. Its about $180 a pop.

Can you share some good links to download mp3 stuff? Ripping CDs is taking up too much time.

I’m doing exactly the same thing with my new iPod, minus the downloading. Will be shopping for a case and earphones at Sim Lim this weekend…
