CNY 2005, Day Two

It’s a family tradition for all of us to gather for lunch on the second day of the Lunar New Year at my aunt’s place. When we get there, there is usually a strange lunch waiting for us. Last year, it was pasta. The year before saw us eating popiah (springrolls). This year was the year of Roti Jala (Malaysian lacy pancakes). See the pic above for an idea of what da heow it is.
After eating to our hearts content, we sit on the floor and bring out a deck of cards to gamble! Young and old, rich and poor, willing and unwilling - we all gamble. It must be a chinese thing?
My dad and I were the bankers for the entire session. We cleaned out everybody and walked away with a cool 6000% profit. What a great start to the new year!

This is how we do it, Malaysian style
