TheEndangered Common White Collared Bachelor Bird

The worst part of living alone as a bachelor is your meals.

You see, I don’t cook, can’t cook and wouldn’t cook even if I could. My average weekly menu ranges between gourmet fusion to broke-ass poverty. My average menu in a week looks something like this

Mon
Yong Tau Foo for lunch, crackers ala jacobs for dinner

Tue
Chicken rice for lunch, pasta marinara for dinner

Wed
Coffee and ciggies for lunch, instant noodles for dinner

Thurs
Mixed rice for lunch, instant noodles for dinner

Friday
Sushi for lunch, crushed pringles on white bread for dinner

As you can see, nutrition is becoming a problem for me. The shite I ingest causes all kinds of weird bodily malfunctions. Just yesterday, I overcame a case of really bad gas by drinking 3 bottles of Yakult (that’s the japanese version of Vitagen).

The problem is dinner. My office is in the CBD so I can’t get proper meals at night there. My hosue is located in a really residential area and there are hardly any restaurants around. This means I usually windup cooking super unhealthy instant noodles.

There was this billboard I saw on the train, and it was advertising daily dinners delivered to your house every night from SGD176 per month. I’ve been thinking that perhaps I should sign up for this.

What do you think? You get 3 dishes + soup + rice for dinner every night. No more decision-making dilemmas. You don’t get to decide what’s for dinner as they will be rotating the menu. Hell, you can even check what’s on the menu for dinner tonight online

Yes. Tingkat is much better than instant noodles/whateverrubbishyoumake. I worry for you if you continue to have such terrible dinners.

I’m not too sure about the $172 per month thingy coz from the brochure pics, it looks hell of a lot like the stuff they serve at SAF cookhouses, and that’s saying a lot.

Alternatively, get a Vietnamese wife :)

Sorry but I don’t think she’s got the time since apart from cleaning up my every-10mins-messedup-room, she’s gotta wash the dog, clean the fish pond, feed the chicken, etc etc.

I suggest you marry a wife and let her clean up for you.

ladies and gentlemen, as you can see that very sexist remark came from a woman and not me.

go for the tingkat food, not bad.
but if u return home late, your ‘tingkat’ will be hung on your door ala newspaper subscription.
even if u have home-cooked meals like me, there are numerous times when i crave for unhealthy junk food :).

Catered food not good too. Very oily and servings meant for two persons methinks. Best is to cook a lot of food in advance and freeze them. Just microwave and you have yourself a nice warm dinner.

Singapore lacks a decent variety of microwave dinners at a reasonable price. They make a great “base” for a bachelor dinner when supplemented with milk/juice, fresh fruits and chocolate or ice-cream for dessert.

Well, if you and your good friends do not mind, have them to cook more during dinner and have you over on alternate nights. LOL. Or have them packed a portion of their tonite’s dinner so you can have it for tomorrow’s lunch or dinner.
