The One Where Caleb Visits Kuala Lumpur
Early on Saturday morning, I looked upon the vast expanse of KL city from the balcony of the condo on the 18th floor at which I was crashing on and noted that there was 2 parking lots for each apartment unit but the roads were only 4 lanes max. Doing some quick math, I kinda guessed that the traffic would be ridiculous later on.

Later that day, whilst stuck in a car with 4 screaming kids in a traffic jam so ridiculously long just to get to carpark G at Mid Valley Megamall, I realized that I would never ever move back to my own country. When I discovered that carpark G was full, and I needed to go a full circle back to get into carpark A - I truly felt like shooting the townplanner who had authorized the building of the largest mall in Malaysia without bothering to consider if the roads could even begin to support the kind of traffic that comes with it.

When I finally found a spot to park, the entire episode had traumatized me so much that I had to haul everybody’s ass to the nearest cafe so I could get a caffeine fix. Olio Dome had smoking seats only so we went to Coffee Bean. It amazes me that my usual drink costs RM11.00 here - how the heck are Malaysians affording this? But the crowds of people at Coffee Bean evidently proved that despite the per capita hovering at RM1500, Malaysians were more then willing to part with RM11 for a cup of very normal java.

MidValley is huge. We shopped until we dropped. I managed to get a really nice diamond for my mom’s Xmas gift, at this place called Wah Chan. The Xmas decorations are really nice as well.
I could not get a hotel room for the night. Apparently Jackie Chan’s party for his father and some China trade convention had nabbed every single hotel room in Kuala Lumpur. So I ended up having to spend the night at the same condo again.
We decided to go watch midnight screening of ‘The Phantom of the Opera‘ at Midvalley. The roads are jammed at 11pm. Getting to your car after the movie is another major bitch. Got totally lost trying to get back after the movie.
I love Kuala Lumpur. Thank goodness I don’t live there. The traffic would drive me bonkers.
