Radio vs Ipod
DJs defensive against Ipod assault
The iPod has become a radio station-in-a-pocket that pumps out thousands of songs, at random, from your very own personal hit parade.
No bad songs. No DJ chatter. No commercials.
I don’t buy this. If you lose your listeners, it means your radio show sucks.
I listen to Gold 90.5FM - the oldies channel. I enjoy the innane banter of Brian Richmond, the honey-tongued housewife Lyn Sa’adon and the friendly Audrey Ying.
They provide good music and say nice positive uplifting stuff all day long - making my day in the office feel a lot better then it should be. Other radio stations have a lot of negative energy. Gold 90.5 seems to focus on spreading good karma around.
I especially like the afternoon show where Brian Richmond makes Happy Birthday phonecalls to unsuspecting people.

Of course I would like to listen to the very latest in music. But I can’t stand the other ‘modern’ radio stations. I find the DJ’s juvenile, the commercials tacky and 80% of the playlist not to my taste.
That’s when I switch off the radio and pull out my mp3s.
