Where were you when the lights went out?

Last night, I had dinner with SD. After that, we went to buy me some new pillows and bolsters. I went home looking forward to a splendid state of rest with improved REM and all that jazz.

Then the lights went off suddenly at about 10.30pm. My landlord and I came out and stood on the balcony as we realized in horror that it was pitch black.

Maybe Perhaps Could Be A Terrorist Attack!

We had no candles, no torch light and nothing to do. So we sat down in the dark lounging on the living room sofa while I played my guitar.

Let’s sing ‘Can you take me high enough’ by the damn yankees
Err.. ok but I don’t know the chords, and there’s no internet
Let’s go to Orchard road and visit a KTV.
Dude, the lift isnt working… you wanna walk down eleven floors?

The worst part was that there was no more air-conditioning. It was so warm that we stripped to our underwear and lay down on the floor.

Dude the power must come back soon.
Why..?
There are many ministers’ concubines living near us here. They cannot endure this kind of suffering
That is so true

The cell phones were unusable because people were jamming the lines with frantic calls and sms’es.
Our favourite broadband provider SCV Maxonline went dark
People got trapped inside lifts when the power died. Firemen couldnt get them out because they didnt have the keys.

My fav:
Nobody went looting the stores. How amazing. Instead ppl sat down at coffeeshops and played with sparklers.

Singapore is not a third world country. Shit like this is not supposed to happen. Civilisation as we know it broke down because the power got cut off. Imagine what would have happened if this went on for more then a week?

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Read about it

Funny, I could have sweared the blackout occured due to an influx of South Asians from Serangoon Road.
