Movie Review: The Passion Of Christ

Today mom got a pirated dvd of Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of Christ”. So I hooked the PS2 to the telly and we all sat down to watch it.

So here is my review:
The entire movie is in aramaic and latin. No shit. 2 dead languages making their comeback in the same movie. Who will win?

I had to explain most of the movie to my gf. Apparently the chinese subtitles didnt do a decent enough job of keeping up with all that aramic and latin dialogue going back and forth. This movie is full of gore and flashbacks. Jesus gets his ass kicked royally. Mary and the other Mary cry alot. The devil looks like Marilyn Manson (who must be happy with the homage) and demons are actually little kids (mothers have known this for years).

The good - heretics, sometimes christians and hedonists get a second chance with this movie. They will get converted. Yes, it is that moving.

Mary Magdelene is saved from being stoned to death by Jesus. Presumably because she is a whore. WTF?

We see how Veronica’s Veil is created. WTF? Wasn’t that a fake?

Verdict - go and watch it. But take it with a pinch of salt. This is not CNN live at the scene.

..and he got suckers like me buying his album and fancy his work. :P MM rocks. teehee!

Well, Mary Magdalene wasn’t “presumably” a whore, she was a whore and she was saved by the line, “Whosoever has not sinned, let him cast the first stone.” Or something to that effect. Pirated DVD just doen’t work la… the effect is gone.

Idler > Mary Magdala was not a whore. That was a story concocted in the middle ages. The vatican has acknowledge that she was probably the 13th disciple. Some say she might actually have been the wife of Jesus. This is stuff you will not find in the scriptures, which by the way makes no mention that Mary Magdala is awhore.
