Hidup Pak Lah (Long Live Badawi)
I changed my mind. Next time, I’m voting for the opposition.
Barisan Nasional (National Front) has trounced the opposition and I’m damn happy about it. It’s clear that the citizens of Malaysia do not want a crazy hardcore islamic gov in charge. PAS’s threat to voters about how only those who voted for them would secure a place in heaven has definitely turned the tide against them.

I’m glad that Badawi becomes Prime Minister with a 2/3 majority. This signals more good years for Malaysia both economically and culturally. The fact that the whole nation rallied behind him regardless of race and religion is amazing. For the first time in a very long time we actually have a leader that we trust and support whole-heartedly. Maybe it was his slogan “Work with me, not for me” and his efforts to promote a multi-racial society with no discrimination that won the chinese and indian community over.
For the tribe, I’m glad that Barisan Nasional has retaken the states of Kelantan and Trengganu. On our last holiday there we were not able to purchase any beer and were shocked at the backwardness of the capital cities of those two states. The part that took the cake was a shampoo ad which featured a muslim woman wearing a headscarf covering her hair.
I’m sure we’ll be visiting again soon and drink some beer over there. Hell, bring on the cognac and whiskey.
